About the Fixness Team

John Boyett

John has been involved with repairing exercise equipment since the early 1990’s. In 1995, he graduated from Ferris State University in Recreation Management with an emphasis in Corporate Fitness. While at FSU, he was the president of the weightlifting club and was in charge of purchasing and maintaining all the equipment for the facility. He interned at the White House Athletic Center in Washington, D.C. and then at an outpatient rehab/fitness facility in Virginia. After completing his internships, John worked for a few computer related companies before starting Fixness in 2003. Within in a few weeks, Fixness became the service provider for American Home Fitness in Lansing and Grand Rapids, MI. In July of 2003, John became a Factory Certified Precor Technician, and has since re-certified every 2 years ('03, '05, '07 '09 & '11). John is now a Level 2 Precor Tech (this is Precor's highest level). John married Taryn in 2004 in Maui, Hawaii on a vacation provided by Precor and American Home Fitness. They moved to Sylvania, OH in 2007 to be closer to family. It was an easy transition since American Home Fitness has a store in Toledo as well. In 2008, Fixness added the Toledo area JCC/YMCAs and several other fitness facilities in Toledo.

Taryn Boyett

Toledo is Taryn's hometown. She is a '93 alumni of Central Catholic High School and graduated from the University of Dayton in '97 with a B.S. in Exercise Science. After graduation, Taryn moved back to Toledo and started working for Central Tennis and Fitness (now known as Shadow Valley Club: Tennis and Fitness). Here, she started teaching Spinning classes after traveling to Chicago, IL to become Johnny G Spinning Certified. She taught Spinning classes at other local fitness facilities including Summit YMCA, Wolfcreek YMCA, the University of Toledo Athletic Center, and Shadow Valley Tennis Club. In addition to Spin classes, Taryn taught Step Aerobics and Kick Boxing. In 2000, she started working for Busy Body (which is now American Home Fitness), selling fitness equipment. A year into the job, she was promoted to manage the Lansing, MI AHF location. In 2002, she moved to Grand Rapids, MI to manage that AHF location. In 2006, AHF opened a second GR location, where Taryn managed both stores At the same time, she was a certified Precor Product Specialist. With a desire to live closer to her family, she and her husband John, moved to Sylvania, OH in 2007. With this move, Taryn became the Sales Trainer for their 19 locations. Then, in the summer of 2008, she left AHF to become the Co-owner of Fixness.
